 2008-2009 Grants Awarded

Ten Paul Ruth Teacher Grants were awarded to teachers for the 2008-2009 school term. Grants funded for up to $700 were awarded to: Mechel Taylor, Lockport Lower Elementary - "LetÕs Discover"; Jenny Bonvillain, South Thibodaux Elementary - "Leveled Learning Stations"; Bonnie Martiny, St. Charles Elementary - "Read to Me Please!"; Greta Terrebonne, Golden Meadow Upper Elementary - "Making Learning Fun"; Rebecca Comeaux, Larose Upper Elementary - "Engaged in the History of the Americas"; Melissa Eymard, Larose Upper Elementary - "Life Cycles - Alive and Up Close"; Stephanie O'Rourke, Central Lafourche High School - "What Would Your Doctor See?"; Jessica LeBlanc, Central Lafourche High School Ð ÒWhat You DonÕt SeeÓ; Sue C. Aysenne, Thibodaux High School - "Dependable Data"; and Wade Rodrigue, Thibodaux High School - "A Bagful of Fables".

Three School-Wide Grants of $5,000 were awarded during 2008-2009. Recipients include Larose Upper Elementary, Diane Terrebonne, "Books, Books, Books"; Central Lafourche High School, Julie Carriere, "Building Relationships" and Thibodaux High School, Anne Granier, "AR Read for Success Contest".

One Special Project was funded for an after school tutoring program at Golden Meadow Middle School. Aubrey Orgeron Jr., school principal identified a need for tutoring as a means of improving student test scores.
