NewsAugust 27, 2006 LEF Honors 2005 Lafourche Parish Teachers of the Year The Lafourche Education Foundation recognized the school system's outstanding educators on August 27, 2006 during its annual Teacher of the Year Banquet at Nicholls State University's Bollinger Ballroom. Whitney Bank was a proud sponsor of the event. ![]() 2006 Lafourche Parish Teachers of the Year: One teacher from each of the 27 parish public schools was honored, and among these, one "Teacher of the Year" was named in each of the elementary, middle, and high school categories. This year's winners include: Tonia Guidry of Golden Meadow Middle School who teaches math and computer literacy; Mark Arceneaux, an agriscience teacher at Thibodaux High School; and third-grade teacher Gesele Adams of Larose Upper Elementary School. Each will go on to represent the parish in the state competition. "The strength of this community is the strength of the public school system," said LEF President Charlotte Bollinger as she welcomed the educators and their guests to the event. The featured speaker at the brunch was WWL television personality Frank Davis. ![]()
