LEF Honors 2005 Lafourche Parish Teachers of the Year

The Lafourche Education Foundation recognized outstanding educators on January 22, 2006 during its annual Teacher of the Year Banquet at Nicholls State University's Bollinger Ballroom.

One teacher from each of the parish's 27 public schools was honored at the event, and among these, one "Teacher of the Year" was named in each of the elementary, middle, and high-school categories.

The 2005 Teachers of the Year included:
Christine Barrios, a family and consumer sciences teacher who has taught at Thibodaux High School for more than 25 years.
Cally Chauvin, an eighth-grade science teacher at Lockport Middle School.
Bernadine Guillory, a first-grade teacher at Cut Off Elementary School, the same school where she started her career in 1980.

In addition to the Teacher-of-the-Year awards, the LEF banquet featured Lafourche Parish Schools Superintendent Jo Ann Matthews, Lafourche Parish District Attorney Cam Morvant and Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre as guest speakers.
