2012 Lafourche Education Foundation Annual Gala

The Lafourche Education Foundation (LEF) will celebrate their 9th Annual Gala on Thursday, January 19th, 2012. The Gala is LEF's Fundraiser and will feature Mrs. Jo Ann Mathews, Superintendent of Lafourche Parish Schools. Sheriff Craig Webre a graduate of Thibodaux High School will be recognized as the Distinguished Graduate for 2012. The Gala includes a reception, silent auction, Dinner, speaker and live music.

Teacher of the Year Brunch

The Lafourche Education Foundation sponsors an annual Lafourche Parish Teacher of the Year Brunch where teachers are celebrated and rewarded for their classroom accomplishments. The three teachers selected as overall "Teachers of the Year" for each school category and all "Teachers of the Year" representing each school in the parish are presented with cash awards, plaques and prizes. The 2010 LEF Teacher of the Year Brunch which recognized the 2011 Teachers of the Year was sponsored by Whitney Bank and the Daily Comet & Houma Courier and was held at Envie Restaurant. In addition to the Brunch, all Teachers of the Year are treated to an all expense paid trip to the National World War II Museum in New Orleans.

Grants Program

The grants program of the Lafourche Education Foundation has promoted enrichment in classroom instruction and provided monies for school-wide projects which support education for all children. The Foundations offers Paul Ruth Teacher Grants, School-Wide Grants and Special Project Grants.


Professional Development

The Lafourche Education Foundation has supported training for aspiring administrators in an effort to increase the number of potential qualified candidates for administrative positions. The Lafourche Education Foundation has sponsored Saturday Academies for school administrators and those aspiring to become administrators. The Foundation has also sponsored keynote speakers for Professional Development Days for teachers and administrators.
