Events2010 Lafourche Education Foundation Annual Gala The primary fundraiser for the Lafourche Education Foundation is its annual Gala. The featured speaker for the 2010 Annual Gala to be held at Nicholls State University on Wednesday, January 20 will be Sarah Usdin, CEO, New Schools for New Orleans. Mark Boudreaux, Thibodaux High School Graduate of 1978 will be recognized as the Distinguished Graduate. Prior years featured speakers... Same until...Chancelor Sean OÕKeefe, Louisiana Superintendent of Education Paul Pastorek and NFL Draft Analyst, Mike Detillier, a graduate of Lafourche Parish public schools. The monies raised from the Gala supports LEF programs that benefit teachers and students. Teacher of the Year Brunch The Lafourche Education Foundation sponsors an annual Lafourche Parish Teacher of the Year Brunch where teachers are celebrated and rewarded for their classroom accomplishments. The three teachers selected as overall "Teachers of the Year" for each school category and all "Teachers of the Year" representing each school in the parish are presented with cash awards, plaques and prizes. The 2009 LEF Teacher of the Year Brunch sponsored by Whitney Bank and the Daily Comet was held at Nicholls State University.
Saturday Academies and Professional Development Beginning in 2010, the Lafourche Education Foundation will support training for aspiring administrators in an effort to increase the number of potential qualified candidates for administrative positions. The Lafourche Education Foundation sponsors Saturday Academies for school administrators and those aspiring to become administrators. The Foundation has also sponsored keynote speakers for Professional Development Days for teachers and administrators. |
